Head of Regional Development Master Program, Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T. as speaker at the 7th Geomatics National Seminar organized by the Geospatial Information Agency with the theme “Geospatial Information for the Capital City of the Archipelago”, by delivering material on “Challenges of Smart City Development for Sustainable Development IKN” on May 7, 2024 at Bogor.
The Asian Geography Specialty Group and the Regional Development and Planning Specialty Group invited Prof. Rini Rachmawati, Head of Regional Development Master Program, to give a virtual presentation at the 2024 American Association of Geographers (AAG) in the Contemporary Thoughts on Cities, Urbanization, and Planning in South and Southeast Asia session in April 20, 2024 titled Smart City Development in Southeast Asia: A New Face of Urbanization and Urban Planning. This year’s AAG event took place both in person at Hawaii-Honolulu and online. Thank you delivered to Professor George Pomeroy as Chair of the Asian Urban Research Association and Jennifer Pomeroy for the photos.

Third Period of Academic Year 2023/2024
Located in Strasbourg-France on 17-18 April 2024, Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T., Chairperson of the Regional Development Studies Interest of Master of Geography UGM attended the UN-Habitat Global Expert Working Group on the International Guidelines for People-Centered Smart Cities meeting, organized by UN Habitat and the Eurometropole of Strasbourg, the Grand Est Region, FNAU and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Participants consisted of 31 experts from various countries. Prof. Rini Rachmawati represented Indonesia, proposed by the Ministry of PUPR and the Ministry of Home Affairs and through selection by UN Habitat.
Program Coordinator, Master Program in Regional Development, Faculty of Geography UGM delivered a general lecture at Universitas Lampung (UNILA) on February 23, 2024 at the Hall of Building A FKIP UNILA.. Followed by the introduction of regular, by research, and double degree postgraduate programs. The double degree program “Sustainable Urban and Regional Development” is organized by the Master Program in Regional Development UGM and the University of Groningen. The activity was also attended by managers of Master of Geography, Master of Remote Sensing, and Doctor of Geography Sciences UGM.

The MSc Degree Programme International Development Studies
The multidisciplinary, one-year Master’s programme in International Development Studies addresses current development challenges and engages with these highly important and urgent issues from people-centered, human perspective. In particular, the programme focuses on topics surrounding migration/mobilities, climate change, land governance, urbanisation and corporate social responsibility.
Center for Southeast Asian Social Studies (CESASS) UGM in collaboration with the Faculty of Geography UGM organized the German-Southeast Asian ForUm of Urban Experts’ Conference on “National Urban Development Strategies for ASEAN Member Countries” on November 26 to December 5, 2023.
The event began with the Overview and Objectives of ForUm delivered by Prof. Frauke Krass. Followed by opening remarks and presentations from Prof. Dr. Rini Rachmawati, S.Si., M.T. (Director of CESASS UGM and Program Coordinator, Master Program in Regional Development UGM) as the organizer and presenter of the event, then continued by the presentation of the Dean of the Faculty of Geography UGM, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko.
